All drivers must join the ARL discord for all updates and race day announcements Introduction: Welcome to American Racing League (ARL).
These guidelines are designed to promote respectful driving behavior, consistent race-craft, and a shared understanding of expectations across platforms and communities. By aligning virtual racing conduct with real-world motorsport principles, we aim to foster a more immersive, equitable, and enjoyable experience for all participants. Please read this carefully. Rules: 1.0 Discord Etiquette
- Set your ARL server discord name to the real name or nickname that shows in the game.
- Be polite. Take a moment and think before you type or speak. Explicitly calling out drivers in discord or in-game chat will carry a time penalty at stewards' discretion. If you have an issue with a driver, either open a discord incident ticket or sort it out in dm.
- Speak to an admin if you wish to recommend any other leagues in the ARL discord.
- Zero-tolerance policy towards any abuse verbal, text or otherwise levied against individuals or groups. Either in the server or via DMs.
- If a member is found to violate the discord etiquette, then the admin team may take several actions including removing someone from the league. All punishments are at the discretion of the admin team as it is our goal to protect and preserve the condition of the league and promote its growth, and any violations will be viewed as destructive to the league.
2.0 General guidance
- During racing the overall aim is for no car to contact another, as a driver in ARL it is everyone’s responsibility to do their best to prevent this from happening.
- Even so, incidents do happen and when they do, it is proper etiquette to try to return the position to the other driver in a safe manner.
- Don’t be too aggressive when attempting an overtaking maneuver; it is generally the responsibility of the chasing car to complete the overtake in a safe and clean manner.
- Cars being chased must not block but must pick and maintain defensive line.
- At the start of the race, in particular the chance for an incident is high.
- Please take extra care at the beginning of races; the safest thing to do is to back out of any high-risk maneuver. Races are rarely won by heroics into turn 1.
- If an incident does occur during the race, it is the driver’s responsibility to bring it to the attention of the Stewarding Team via discord incident tickets.
3.0 Racing Standards
- This section outlines the core principles of sim racing driving standards, including expectations around race-craft, overtaking etiquette, defensive maneuvers, track limits, and incident accountability. These standards are not merely guidelines—they are essential for maintaining the integrity of the race, fostering mutual respect among drivers, and creating an environment where skill and strategy prevail over recklessness.
- • Must execute the move cleanly without contact.
- • You should only attempt to overtake when there is a realistic opportunity.
- • Must be alongside (at least front wheel to rear wheel) before the corner to claim racing room.
- • Any car that is “Sufficiently Alongside” shall be afforded a car’s width on track.
- • “Dive-bomb” is a risky maneuver that usually takes lead cars by surprise and will generally be deemed as over aggressive.
- • Dive-bombing (late, reckless lunges) is prohibited unless space and control are maintained.
- • Overtakes must occur within track boundaries.
- • If a driver goes off track during an overtake, they must rejoin safely and may need to yield the position.
4.0 Qualifying
- Give adequate space to cars qualifying in front. If a queue is formed on the first out lap, that queue should be respected and drivers need to wait for their turn to start their flying lap. We recommend a minimum 5 second gap to the car ahead and no passing on sector 3
- Failure to respect slower drivers in qualifying may result in penalties.
- When on an out-lap, drivers must make any effort to stay out of the way of drivers on hot laps, so as not to ruin their qualifying chances.
- Mixed Class or Mixed Grid qualifying time slots must only go on track during their respective time slots.
