Welcome to the rulebook for the New Zealand Virtual Sim Racing β European Le Mans Series (NZVSR ELMS) π
Modeled after the real-world European Le Mans Series, these rules are designed to ensure fair, competitive, and realistic endurance racing ποΈπ¨
π¦ General Racing Rules
- π§ Race clean and respectful at all times
- π« No intentional contact or dangerous driving
- β οΈ Drivers must maintain control of their car at all times
- π Rejoining the track must be done safely without impacting others
π₯ Divebombs, reckless moves, and avoidable contact WILL be penalized.
π« NO ESC RULE
- β Pressing ESC to return to pits is STRICTLY FORBIDDEN
- π₯ If you crash, you must:
- Safely return to the pits π
- Or wait for a Safety Car / Red Flag π¨
β οΈ Breaking this rule may result in:
- β Time penalties
- β Lap penalties
- β Disqualification
π Formation Lap Procedure
- π 2 FULL formation laps before race start
- π« No overtaking unless instructed
- π§ Maintain safe distance and warm tyres/brakes properly
- π¦ Green flag will be called by race control
β οΈ Jump starts = penalties.
π¨ Safety Car Rules
- π§ Safety Car will be deployed for incidents
When Safety Car is called:
- π‘ Slow down immediately
- π« No overtaking
- π Form a single-file line behind the Safety Car
- π Maintain a safe gap to the car ahead
π Restarts:
- Leader controls pace once instructed
- π« No overtaking before green flag
π₯ Red Flag Rules
- π₯ Major incidents will trigger a Red Flag
When called:
- π All cars must follow the Safety Car into the pit lane
- π No overtaking
- βΈοΈ Race will be temporarily stopped
π§ During Red Flag, you ARE allowed to:
- π Change tyres
- β½ Refuel
- π₯ Change drivers
β οΈ Be ready β race restart instructions will be given by race control.
ποΈ Multi-Class Racing Rules
- β‘ Faster classes (LMP2 / LMP2 Pro-Am / LMP3):
- Must overtake safely and cleanly
- Responsibility is on the faster car
- π’ Slower class (LMGT3):
- Must hold a predictable line
- π« Do NOT make sudden moves
π€ Respect between classes is critical.
βοΈ Stewarding & Penalties
- π Live stewards active during all races
- π Incidents reviewed in real-time or post-race
π¨ Possible penalties include:
- β±οΈ Time penalties
- π Drive-through penalties
- β Stop & Go penalties
- π» Grid penalties (next race)
- β Disqualification
π§ Pit & Race Conduct
- π« Unsafe pit entries/exits will be penalized
- β οΈ Respect pit lane speed limits
- π₯ Driver swaps must be done correctly
- β½ Strategy is free β no restrictions unless stated

- π Respect your competitors
