FRS Regulations Excerpt

While inspired by the rules of real-world motorsport, this rule set is not identical to those used by the FIA, or any other motorsports governing body. As such decisions made in real world motorsports should not be considered precedential or binding for FRS races.

General Conduct & The Regulations

  1. The FRS welcoming to all, all members of the FRS community are expected to maintain a basic standard of behaviour while participating in the FRS discord, or in FRS events

    1. Discrimination or abuse of any kind will not be tolerated

    2. Breaches of these rules may lead to temporary server mutes, event bans, and community bans in extreme cases

    3. Any abuse or discriminatory behaviour predicated on any defining characteristic including, but not limited to: race or ethnic background, sex or gender identity, sexual orientation, or disability may result in immediate removal from the FRS community, without warning

On Track Conduct

  1. Above all, participants are expected to race cleanly, fairly, and obey basic racing etiquette, and standards of sportsmanship at all times

    1. It is not permitted to drive any car unnecessarily slowly, erratically or in a manner deemed potentially dangerous to other drivers at any time

    2. When battling other drivers, the defending driver is expected to leave sufficient racing room when the attacking car has a significant overlap

    3. When defending their position, a driver may make only one movement away from the racing line

      1. Having moved off line, a driver may then make a single movement towards the racing line, no further move will be permitted from this point

    4. Drivers should make every effort to avoid contact at all times

  2. Drivers should remain within the track limits at all times

    1. In most cases track limits enforcement will be left to the sim in which the event or league takes place

    2. Should a driver leave the track at any point, for any reason, they must only re-join when it is safe to do so

  3. Participants should at all times respect signal flags displayed in game, and signals from the Race Control Team, in particular drivers should be aware of:

    1. Blue flags which signal that drivers should be aware that faster cars are approaching

      1. During race sessions drivers are required to yield track position to lapping cars which are within 0.5 seconds as soon as practicable

      2. Drivers being shown blue flags should continue to drive in a safe, predictable manner, where possible yield position on straights, before the braking zone

    2. Yellow flags which indicate that a hazard is present on or near the track

      1. When shown yellow flags drivers should take increased care in light of incidents ahead and prepare to slow or stop completely if required

      2. Drivers who fail to respect yellow flags and become involved in an incident will be subject to additional penalties

    3. Black and orange ā€œmeatballā€ flags, also known as mechanical black flags, which signal that drivers should return to the pit lane for repairs as soon as possible

      1. While doing so drivers should take suitable care to avoid impeding other cars, it is expected that a driver being ā€˜meatballed’ will yield the racing line to any other car approaching them in a safe manner

Stewarding

  1. Stewarding will be performed by panels, one of these panels shall be comprised of Senior Stewards:

  2. Incidents will be assigned to Stewards panels as they arrive, effort will be undertaken to avoid assigning incidents to panels including Stewards who were involved in the incident in question. In such cases where this cannot be avoided Stewards will be expected to recuse themselves from any incidents in which they are involved

  3. Drivers will have 24 hours from the conclusion of an event to submit incidents to The Stewards for review, using the #incident-report channel & selecting the appropriate event tab

  4. Drivers have the right to protest decisions made by The Stewards should they feel important evidence has gone unexamined or an incorrect decision has been reached

    1. For Le Mans Series, drivers will have 2 tokens allocated for the season. Each protest made will cost 1 token. Drivers must initiate the protest process within 24 hours from the publication of The Stewards decisions

Example penalties which may be awarded for incidents in FRS events:Penalty | Incident Severity
5 Seconds | Minor
10 Seconds | Moderate / Multiple Minor
15 Seconds | Significant / Multiple Moderate
30 Seconds | Major / Multiple Significant
60 Seconds | Major / Multiple Significant
