🏁 NZR iRacing 24 Hours of Nürburgring – Official Rule Set

Welcome to the NZR iRacing 24 Hours of Nürburgring, the ultimate endurance test in virtual motorsport. This rule set governs all aspects of the event and is mandatory reading for all participating teams and drivers. By registering for the event, teams agree to abide by these rules in full.

1. EVENT OVERVIEW

  • Event Name: NZR iRacing 24 Hours of Nürburgring

  • Platform: iRacing

  • Track: Nürburgring Combined – Gesamtstrecke 24H (Nordschleife + GP Circuit)

  • Race Duration: 24 continuous hours

  • Start Type: Rolling start

  • Server Settings:

    • Dynamic weather

    • Dynamic sky and time progression

    • Full damage model

    • No fast repairs

    • Local cautions only

2. EVENT FORMAT & SCHEDULE

  • Qualifying: Private team qualifying session (1 hot stint per car)

  • Race Start: [12:00 pm NZST]

  • Race End: 24 hours later

  • Driver Briefing: Mandatory pre-race briefing via NZR Discord

  • Practice Server(s): Open in the week leading up to the event

3. CLASSES & CARS

This is a multi-class endurance event. The following classes and vehicles are eligible:

GT3 Class:

  • Acura NSX GT3 Evo
  • Audi R8 LMS Evo II
  • BMW M4 GT3 EVO
  • Corvette Z06 GT3 R
  • Ferrari 296 GT3
  • Ford Mustang GT3
  • Lamborghini Huracán GT3 Evo
  • McLaren 720S GT3 EVO
  • Mercedes-AMG GT3 2020
  • Porsche 911 GT3 R (992)

GT4 Class:

  • Aston Martin Vantage GT4
  • BMW M4 G82 GT4
  • Ford Mustang GT4
  • McLaren 570S GT4
  • Mercedes-AMG GT4
  • Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR

CUp 2 Class:

  • Porsche 911 GT3 Cup (992)
Each class will have its own championship standings and podium recognition. All cars must conform to the latest iRacing BoP specifications at the time of the event.

4. TEAM STRUCTURE & DRIVER RULES

  • Minimum Drivers Per Team: 1

  • Maximum Drivers Per Team: 6

  • Minimum Drive Time per Driver: 1 hour

  • Maximum Drive Time per Driver: 3 hours

  • Driver Swaps: Must occur in the pit lane using iRacing’s swap system

  • Solo Drivers: Not permitted

Failure to comply with drive time regulations may result in time penalties or disqualification.

5. REGISTRATION & ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Registration Platform: NZR Discord link

  • Team iRating Minimum (average): 1000 (exceptions reviewed on request)

  • Grid Cap: Maximum 60 cars (class limits may apply)

  • Entry Fee: [Insert if applicable] – covers admin and broadcast costs

  • Livery Submission Deadline: 7 days before race start

  • Discord Presence: All teams must have at least one team representative in the NZR Discord for race control communication

6. QUALIFYING FORMAT

  • Type: Public session

  • Duration: 30 minutes per class (Cup > GT4 > GT3)

  • Driver: Only one driver may qualify per team

  • Track Limits: iRacing off-tracks invalidate lap times

  • Grid Order: Based on fastest clean lap within class

Failure to attend or submit a valid qualifying time will result in a rear-of-class start.

7. RACE PROCEDURE

  • Start Procedure: Rolling start behind the pace car

  • Start Zones: Controlled by the iRacing system

  • Formation Laps: Standard iRacing formation

  • Jump Start or Contact: May result in penalties

8. PIT STOPS

  • Pit Entry/Exit: Must be taken safely; reviewable by stewards

  • Fuel & Tires: No restrictions

  • Repair Time: Fully enforced per iRacing’s damage model

  • Driver Swaps: Must occur while the car is stationary in the pit box

  • Unsafe Release: Subject to penalty

9. INCIDENT SYSTEM

  • iRacing Incident Points Active

  • Warnings Issued At: 50x

  • Drive-Through Penalty At: 75x

  • Disqualification At: 100x

  • Deliberate Off-Tracks: May result in additional penalties

Stewards may apply manual penalties for reckless behavior even if incident points are low.

10. LIVE RACE CONTROL & STEWARDING

The event will be officiated by live race control staff throughout all 24 hours.

  • Incident Reports: Submit via Discord reporting channel or Google Form

  • Time Window: Reports must be submitted within 10 laps of the incident

  • Penalty Types:

    • Warning

    • Drive-through

    • Stop-and-hold (time penalty)

    • Time added post-race

    • Disqualification

Note: Steward decisions are final and not open to appeal after the race.

11. DRIVER CONDUCT & SPORTSMANSHIP

All participants must race respectfully and safely. The following behaviors are strictly prohibited:

  • Intentional wrecking

  • Blocking faster classes erratically

  • Verbal abuse in voice or text chat

  • Unsafe rejoin of the track

  • Ignoring blue flags

  • Team orders that negatively affect other competitors

Failure to comply may result in immediate penalties or bans from future events.

12. COMMUNICATION

  • Discord: Mandatory for all teams

  • Voice Channels: Teams encouraged to use team-specific channels for coordination

  • Race Control Channel: Must be monitored by at least one team member throughout the race

  • Radio Checks: May be conducted prior to race start

13. TECHNICAL ISSUES & DISCONNECTIONS

  • Team Disconnection: If a driver disconnects, another driver may rejoin if permitted by iRacing

  • Team Outage: If no driver is in the car, it must be towed or retired

  • Mass Disconnects: May result in a red flag or race pause (admin discretion)

  • iRacing Server Crash: Race may be resumed from most recent data or restarted (case-dependent)

No race time compensation is granted for individual disconnects or hardware failures.

14. RED FLAGS & FORCE MAJEURE

In the rare event of race-halting issues:

  • Red Flag: Race will be paused manually by admins

  • Restart Procedure: Based on lap/time prior to interruption

  • Final Decision: Race control and event admins have final authority

15. POST-RACE PROCEDURES

  • Provisional Results: Posted within 2 hours of race finish

  • Official Results: Finalized after protest review (within 24 hours)

  • Replay Review: Teams are advised to save local replays for evidence

  • Protest Window: 1 hour post-race submission cutoff

16. PRIZES & RECOGNITION

  • 🏆 Class Winners – Digital trophies

Additional prizes or partner support may be announced prior to race day.

17. RULE ADJUSTMENTS

NZR reserves the right to update or amend this rule set up to 48 hours before race start. All changes will be announced in Discord and via email.
