Official Regulations of the FORMULA FACTOR CHAMPIONSHIP
1. Introduction
The regulations set out here detail the rules of participation, conduct, and racing, establishing the foundations for the league to operate fairly and competitively. All drivers must read and accept these rules before participating.
*IMPORTANT: Ignorance of the regulations does not exempt drivers from complying with them.*
Race control reserves the right to interpret and apply the regulations in situations not explicitly covered.
2. Competition Format
2.1 Calendar
The season will consist of 15 races, with circuits selected through a vote held at the end of the previous season.
2.2 Race Format
Each Grand Prix will follow this standard format:
• Qualifying: Standard format (Q1, Q2, and Q3) or a single session, depending on the number of registered drivers.
• Race: Approximately 150 kilometers must be completed per Grand Prix, which usually translates to 25-35 laps depending on the circuit.
2.3 Qualifying
The qualifying system will consist of either a single session or three rounds (Q1, Q2, and Q3). If a single session format is used, it will last 20 minutes.
Qualifying Rules:
• If a driver impedes another driver during a flying lap, they will receive a three-place grid penalty.
• Causing a collision during qualifying will result in a five-place grid penalty.
• If a car suffers damage that may pose a danger to other drivers, it must return to the pits immediately.
• If one axle of the car is completely broken, a 10-minute pit penalty will be applied before returning to the track.
• Stopping the car in dangerous areas or in the middle of the circuit is prohibited.
• Drivers on slow laps must move off the racing line to avoid obstructing drivers on flying laps.
107% Rule
• To participate in the race, all drivers must set a lap time within 107% of the fastest qualifying time.
• Any driver failing to qualify within the 107% limit will not be allowed to race.
• Race control may grant exceptions in special circumstances, such as proven technical issues or incidents beyond the driver’s control.
2.4 Race
General Rules:
• Blue flags must be respected. A lapped driver will have three corners to allow the faster car through. Deliberately blocking will result in a 5-second penalty. If an accident is caused, the penalty may be more severe.
• Drivers must maintain clean and respectful driving at all times.
• Intentionally causing accidents is strictly prohibited.
Overtaking and Defending:
• Only one defensive move per straight is allowed.
• Changing direction under braking is prohibited.
• If there is significant overlap between two cars approaching a corner, both drivers must leave sufficient racing room.
• If a driver gains a position off-track, it must be returned immediately.
• Deliberately forcing another driver off the track may result in a penalty.
Track Limits:
• A car will be considered off-track when all four wheels fully cross beyond the outer curb of the circuit.
• Repeatedly gaining time or advantage by exceeding track limits may be penalized.
• Repeated track limit violations may result in time penalties or position penalties.
Collisions:
• Racing incident: Race incident with no major damage or clear advantage gained.
• Minor penalty: +5 seconds if minor damage is caused or an unfair advantage is gained.
• Major penalty: +10 seconds or a Drive Through penalty if the collision causes significant damage.
• Intentional crash: Black flag (disqualification).
• Repeated intentional crashes: 1-race suspension.
• Third intentional crash: Permanent expulsion from the league.
Pit Stops
• All races will require at least one mandatory pit stop.
• There will be no mandatory pit window. Each driver may pit whenever they consider appropriate.
• Changing tire compounds during the pit stop is mandatory.
• Failure to complete the mandatory pit stop or failure to change tires will result in disqualification from the race.
• In case of rain or changing weather conditions, race control may modify or cancel this rule if deemed necessary.
Car Damage and DNF
• If the damage sustained would realistically result in a retirement, the driver must retire from the race.
Examples of damage considered a DNF:
• Completely broken suspension.
• Unusable steering.
• Total loss of a wheel.
• Severe damage making the car uncontrollable.
Restarts and Disconnects
• If the server completely crashes and all drivers lose connection, race control may issue a red flag and restart the race based on the positions at the moment the server crashed.
3. Participation Rules
3.1 Driver Requirements
• Maintain clean and sportsmanlike driving.
• Show respect toward other drivers, administrators, and spectators.
• Any toxic behavior, insults, harassment, discrimination, or serious disrespect both on track and on Discord is strictly prohibited.
3.2 Commitment and Attendance
• Drivers are expected to participate in as many races as possible.
• If a driver misses three consecutive races without prior notice or justification, they will be moved to reserve driver status.
• Drivers are encouraged to notify the administration in advance if they cannot attend.
3.3 Reserve Drivers
• Reserve drivers may substitute absent full-time drivers.
